Equine assisted therapy

Therapy outdoors, with the horses

Equine assisted therapy is offered here at Gray Horse Farm through Gray Horse Counseling, the licensed counseling practice of farm owner Courtenay Baber, MS, LPC.

What it is

Some things are easier to work through outside, next to a horse, than in an office chair. In an equine assisted session you spend time with the horses on the ground. There is no riding, and you do not need any experience with horses.

People come for help with trauma, anxiety, depression, and big changes in life. Sessions can stand on their own or sit alongside regular talk therapy.

Who it is for
Individuals and groups. Team building sessions are also available.
Session length
Usually about an hour. Longer, more intensive sessions of up to three hours can be arranged.
Where
Here at the farm, 2766 Ballsville Road, Powhatan, VA.
Who runs it
Gray Horse Counseling. Booking, fees, and all questions about therapy are handled there, not through the farm.
